Brightstar Group hosts activities for International Women’s Day

The Brightstar Group is hosting a variety of activities across Brightstar Financial and Sirius Property Finance to mark International Women’s Day on March 8th, embracing this year’s theme of #EmbraceEquity.

As well as building understanding and awareness around the difference between equity and equality, various workshops will focus on some key issues for women in the workplace and how these can serve as barriers when it come to opportunity, progress and achievement.

Topics for focus and discussion will include relationship breakdown, pregnancy, parenting, menopause and women’s health issues. Colleagues from both businesses will talk about how these issues can affect women’s experience of work and will share experiences of how such issues have affected them personally and are managed in the workplace. One activity will focus specifically on the menopause, with outcomes of this contributing to the development of a new framework of good practice for managing this key issue across the Brightstar Group.

Aligned with the Group’s commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion, everyone across the Group will be involved with International Women’s Day, working together to identify positive changes that can be made to help support women in the workplace and to also assist in ensuring that such challenges do not serve as barriers to progress and success.

International Women’s Day is a celebration of the achievements made by women throughout history and signifies a continued mission for gender equality. First celebrated over a century ago, the day is now embraced globally to collectively champion the successes of the world’s great women, both past, present and future. The day also represents the continued fight for equality, to eliminate discrimination and bias between genders.

Clare Jupp, director of people development at Brightstar, commented: “The Group continues to place a huge emphasis on diversity and inclusion in its entirety and our observance of International Women’s Day is a key event in our ongoing commitment to this. We continue to focus on issues that are potential barriers for progress and which can affect a positive work experience. A topic of particular interest this year will be the menopause and the planning of a framework to support women as they navigate their way through this challenging experience.”
